I am a fifth-generation native of Washington County, with a lifelong dedication to serving my community. Having lived here my entire life, I understand the values, the people, and the needs that shape this county — because it’s not just where I live, it’s who I am. With over a decade of experience working for Washington County, I bring a deep understanding of local government and a proven commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of its residents.  With a diverse background in public service, I bring a unique combination of skills through my work in Human Resources, the Quorum Court as a Coordinator, and the County Collector’s Office. In Human Resources, I’ve developed a strong foundation in employee relations, compliance, and organizational support. As Quorum Court Coordinator, I’ve gained valuable experience in government operations, legislative processes, and communication with elected officials. My time in the Collector’s Office sharpened my attention to detail, customer service, and financial accountability. Together, these roles have equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of county government, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to efficiency, accuracy, and service to the community.

My husband, John, and I have been married for nearly 35 years. We’ve raised two boys who now have families of their own, and we enjoy life as proud grandparents to four precious grandchildren.  Our commitment to family and community has been the foundation of everything we do.  My deep roots in Washington County are matched by a life of service, and are both personal and public.   I have served as a local school board member, representing students, parents, teachers, and administrators, and advocated for responsible decision-making in all areas of student education.  Additionally, I have been a licensed Master Massage Therapist for over 20 years, and was honored by being elected to the American Massage Therapy Association Board, where I played a key role in updating state-level policy, regulations, and ethical standards.  Alongside my husband, I have co-led the nonprofit organization, West Fest for the past 13 years. West Fest, with the help of many volunteers, has donated nearly $40k to local charities, supporting meaningful causes in our community.  Today, I continue my service agenda as Chair for Bright Futures, another non-profit, which connects community resources with students' needs to support their well-being and academic success.

My faith is the foundation of my life, and my active involvement in my local church has deeply influenced my commitment to service, shaping my values of perseverance, stewardship, and integrity.  Guided by Micah 6:8, I strive to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly in all areas of life - especially in my leadership. These values guide every decision I make, both personally and professionally.

My decision to run for Washington County Collector is not about politics — it’s about purpose. I see opportunities to enhance communication between residents and their county government, increase the government’s responsiveness to its people, and expand support for the education of all residents. I am committed to supporting a more informed and empowered citizenry throughout Washington County. Better government benefits us all.

“This is more than a campaign. To me, it’s a continuation of a lifelong calling to serve others with faith, fairness, and integrity.”

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           ~Myra Collins
